- Education Honor Society -
With being a member of Kappa Delti Pi, I have had the opportunity to serve the Greenville community as well as local elementary schools. Members provide educational experiences for children of many ages and volunteer for community service projects locally. Below are a few different examples of community service that I have volunteered for through KDP.
- Math Night at Greenville Elementary School
- Literacy Night at Greenville Elementary School
- Distribution of children's literature as Christmas Presents at Greenville Elementary School
- Collaboration of Pre-K Counts and KDP - Teaching a lesson about libraries
Athletics
During my four years at Thiel College, I have been a member of both the Women's Volleyball Team and the Women's Lacrosse Team. I have grown in my leadership abilities and my capability of working with other people by being apart of both of these teams. The skills that I have developed from being on a team will transfer over to my role in grade level, IEP, and school wide teams/collaboration.
Community Service
Throughout my life I have volunteered my time to benefit others. Over the past two summers, I have spent every Monday doing community service projects for multiple different communities (Clarion, Mercer, and Venango Counties). Together, many of us who served tore down and reconstructed housing for low income communities, provided free meals everyday for local housing authorities, completed beautification projects in surrounding communities, and many other projects that will be displayed below. Through this service, I have understood and reflected on my impact on others as well as the effects on my own growth as a contributor to the community. I have learned that I have a passion for helping others, especially people from many different backgrounds and situations that I have not personally encountered in life. Examples of community service are listed and pictured below:
- Beautification of Sharon Senior Living Center garden
- Reconstruction of Knox AmeriCorps Pre-K Counts Roofing and Roof Design
- Repainting of two different buildings on Main Street in Knox, PA
- Transporting and distributing 4 tons of pee-gravel to ensure the Knox Community Park is safe for children
- Cleaning up the streets of Knox, PA to keep our community clean
- Distributing free meals daily to children ages 3-18 at local housing authorities
- Providing STEAM based educational programs to children ages 3-15 daily
- Co-creating back to school bashes for housing authorities in Mercer County
- Tear down and reconstruction of donated house in Oil City to provide low-cost living for families
- Helped with the Clarion County Special Olympics 2015-2016
- Provided assistance at Red Cross Blood Drives 2014-2016
